Touch tank

At the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (San Pedro Aquarium), there is an area that visitors of the San Pedro aquarium can touch sea animals such as sharks, sea stars, sea urchins, and many other marine life. It is called the touch tank. Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (San Pedro Aquarium) closes daily at 5pm but the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (San Pedro Aquarium) touch tank closes at 4pm, one hour earlier than the closing time of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (San Pedro Aquarium), nursery center, and discovery center. The touch tank is always full of curious children and parents.

There is always a member of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (San Pedro Aquarium) staff at the touch tank to answer questions and give information and facts about the marine life and sea animals in the touch tank. The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (San Pedro Aquarium) asks that visitors:

  • ask questions and be curious
  • touch animals gently with one finger, and
  • keep both feet on the ground at all times

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (San Pedro Aquarium) asks that visitors do not:

  • pick up or flip any sea animals
  • touch animals in the deep water
  • throw coins or other objects in the water
