Cnidarians
The phylum cnidaria such as sea anemones and
their relatives are plant like in form during at least part of
their life cycle. In some cases cnidarians are even
colored green (such as green sea anemones) like typical
plants. Unlike other plant like marine animals, the cnidaria
are usually not filter feeders but carnivores. The cnidarians
feed mainly on sizable animals that wonder too close to them.
These sit and wait cnidaria predators use tentacles loaded with
stinging cells to capture prey.

In local rocky marine habitats. The major
representatives of this group are sea anemones sea fans and
small bushy or featherlike hydroids. The cnidarians also
include free living jellyfish, the corals which build massive
limestone in the tropics, sea pens and sea pansies.
